What to Expect

At Vanguard Health & Wellness, care is designed to be clear, calm, and intentional. From the first conversation, the goal is to understand what is affecting your body and determine the most appropriate next steps.

Your First In-Office Visit

1

Initial Phone Consultation (Optional)

Many patients begin with a brief phone consultation with Dr. Patel before scheduling their first in-office visit. This call allows you to:

  • Share what you’re experiencing
  • Ask questions about care and approach
  • Understand whether an in-office evaluation is appropriate

If it makes sense to move forward, an appointment will be scheduled. If not, Dr. Patel will be honest about that.

2

Intake and Consultation

Before your visit, you’ll complete an intake form either at home or in the clinic. This provides important background on your health history and current concerns.

Your first visit begins with a focused consultation with Dr. Patel to better understand how your symptoms affect your movement, daily activities, recovery, and overall function. Time is taken here. This is not rushed.

3

Examination and Assessment

Dr. Patel will then perform a hands-on assessment, which may include:

  • Observation of posture and movement
  • Range of motion testing
  • Joint and soft tissue evaluation
  • Neurological and orthopedic screening

The goal is to identify mechanical restrictions, areas of overload, and patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms.

4

Review of Findings

After the assessment, Dr. Patel will explain what he has found and how it relates to what you’re experiencing. This discussion is clear and practical, without pressure or unnecessary technical language.

5

Initial Care (When Appropriate)

If appropriate and agreed upon, care may begin during the first visit. This could include chiropractic care, acupuncture, myofascial work, decompression, or supportive therapies. Nothing is done automatically.

Looking Beyond Mechanics

In some cases, symptoms are influenced by more than joint or tissue mechanics alone. When patterns suggest a broader contribution, factors such as inflammation, nutrition, gut health, stress, and recovery are considered. When clinically appropriate, Dr. Patel may recommend:

  • Lifestyle or nutritional adjustments
  • Targeted supplementation
  • Functional testing, such as stool testing

These tools are used selectively and only when they meaningfully support progress.

Follow-Up Visits

Subsequent visits focus on progressing care based on how your body responds. Treatment is adjusted over time as movement, stability, and function improve.
