What is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine/nutrition is a type of medicine that is focused on finding the root cause of your symptoms. Here’s a metaphor that sums up the difference between conventional medicine and functional medicine: if you had pain because you had a rock in your shoe, a conventional doctor would give you pain killers. The functional medicine doctor, through testing, would look for the rock and remove it.


What kind of Doctors are you?

Dr. Patel and Dr. Vreeland are both trained doctors of chiropractic. Doctors of chiropractic receive a four year medical degree after their undergraduate education, equal to the time spent in medical school. After chiropractic school, they each completed extensive training in functional medicine and acupuncture.

What should I wear to the chiropractor?


Yes! We love seeing out pregnant patients. In fact, many women experience back pain they never had during pregnancy. Her biomechanics have shifted and her ligaments have gained laxity due to the hormonal influx. Since it’s not optimal to take NSAIDs regularly while pregnant, chiropractic is a safe, drug-free pain relief.

Can you go to the chiropractor while pregnant?
